Well·en·brech·erfrom the German wellen“wave” andbrecher“breaker.”
Each Wellenbrecher starts life as a Germandesert camouflagefield shirt. Similar in cut and overall design to theirFlecktarncousins, theseTropentarnshirts incorporate large armpit vents, and a lightweight, three-color fabric.
Wellenbrecher's unique coloration results from a special dying process applied to eachTropentarndonor shirt.Unlike standard 'over-dying,' we use areactive dye whichonly binds to cotton fibers. This leaves all nylon undyed from the arm vents and hook/loop to the nylon fibers in the body of the shirt itself.
Wellenbrecher's slightly iridescent blue-gray appearance is color fast and will not leach or fade. Post dying, your shirt is clear of residual chemicals and clean enough to put in a baby's mouth.
Thisfield shirt can be worn in two different configurations. For a standard 'shirt' cut, we suggest ordering your Gr. size as shown in thewhile keeping your chest size true to measurement.

Color Bias
The color of the tan in the Tropentarn affects the dye result. Not all Tropentarn jackets are the same. There is roughly a 10% difference in color ranging from light khaki to a more yellow sand. This base color effects the Wellenbrecherdye result. You can compare the photos below to get an idea of what to expect. We can make no promises as to the hue you will receive.
